The Houston Habitat ReStore is a non-profit home improvement store and donation center that sells new and gently used furniture, home accessories, building materials, appliances, flooring, cabinetry and more at a fraction of the retail price. Proceeds from the ReStore help Houston Habitat build more homes for hard-working, low-income families.

What can I donate?
  • The ReStore accepts new and gently used building materials of all types from builders and businesses as well as from individuals. However, as a re-sale store, acceptance guidelines are strict. Due to limited resources and storage capacity, at times the ReStore may be unable to receive overstocked items. All donations to the Houston Habitat ReStore are tax deductible to the extent allowable by law. Please email or call our store to make a donation or with specific questions: (713) 643-1100.

What are the acceptance guidelines for donations?
Appliances We accept all appliance donations in working condition.
Cabinets Only complete units with all doors and drawers, shelves, display racks, etc
Doors Doors must be in good condition. No holes, cracks, rot, etc. All types
Electrical Fixtures, parts, wire, plugs, plates and the hardware associated with electrical wiring are accepted.
Fans Ceiling and floor fans must be complete and in working condition
Flooring materials Carpet, vinyl, tile and hardwood.
Hardware Almost all types of hardware: knobs, hinges, locks, etc. if not rusty. Any quantity of nails, screws, connectors, etc.
Lighting All light fixtures must be in working condition.
Lumber/Plywood/Sheetrock/Trim Full and half sheets of plywood, full lengths of lumber, trim in smaller pieces (but no less than 4 ft long). Free of rot, nails and screws.
Mirror & glass Mirrors and Glass must be framed. No loose pieces of glass.
Paint and wall-coverings Full containers of latex paint and stain purchased from a paint store. No leftovers are allowed. We cannot take toxic, hazardous substances (i.e. pesticides, powders, paint thinners). Wall paper is taken in full, unopened rolls.
Pipe, PVC, Metal, Copper 4 ft and over of any type of pipe: all supplies and fittings.
Plumbing, Tubs, Sinks, Showers, Toilets Plumbing fixtures must be clean and in good condition. Toilets must be new, and must be low flush (1.6 gallon).
Roofing, Gutters, Canales All types of roofing material, such as rolled roofing material, tar, metal and bundles of new shingles. Also, roofing gutter & canale materials that are in full, and not rusty, bent or damaged.
Tools All hand and power tools in good working condition
Windows & Screens Double-pane windows of all type if glass is intact. Most windows will show use, even if they are new. If they are casement type, we appreciate having the hardware and cranks.
